Wise Wayne Dyer Quotes

Discover spiritual encouragement and inspiration from Dr Wayne Dyer quotes below.

These quotes have been selected from a couple of Wayne Dyer books, namely 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace and Getting in the Gap.

The Wayne Dyer quotes I have selected are shown here because they have most relevance to the theme of this website and are to provide spiritual inspiration and spiritual encouragement.

When you feel peaceful and successful, you want to extend and export that peace and love.

Your attachments are the source of all your problems. The need to be right, to possess someone or something, to win at all costs, to be viewed by others as superior – these are all attachments.

To release attachments, you have to make a shift in how you view yourself. As a spiritual being, you can observe your body and be a compassionate witness to your existence.

If you can love someone enough to allow them to be exactly what they choose to be – without any expectations or attachments from you – you’ll know true peace in your lifetime.

True love means you love a person for what they are, not for what you think they should be. This is an open mind – and an absence of attachment.

As tough as it is to acknowledge, you had to go through what you went through in order to get to where yo are today, and the evidence is that you did.

Your life is like a play with several acts. Some of the characters have short roles to play, others much larger. Some are villains and others are good guys. But all of them are necessary, otherwise they wouldn’t be in the play. Embrace them all, and move on to the next act.

Trust

Trust That Everything Is OK Will

Bring Miraculous Results

When you trust that there is some path you are on or some unforeseen unfolding to your life, you can live with more peace and purpose.

Ok so I am not so sure Billy Joel below is talking about anything more than the struggles of learning to trust in a romantic relationship, but I like the words in the context of aligning yourself with the way that brings more inner peace.

You can’t go the distance

With too much resistance

I know you have doubts

But for God’s sake don’t shut me out (Billy Joel)

It might strike you as strange if you were to become aware how often you deny this moment. It is as if you are constantly trying to improve the situation by getting somewhere other than right here and now.

I say strange because as you grow in awareness it not only seems fruitless to wish things were different, but it seems ridiculous to ever think that there is somewhere else to get or something to change.

Sure you may desire some change but that will happen when and if the circumstances are aligned with that change. You can’t make the change happen but you can sure accept and trust this moment, wherever you are.

That is what I like about the video of Jason and his story. He comes across as aligning himself with the principle that he can hold a dream or a desire but he is going to accept his life as he finds it in each moment. Not only accept it but also excel and be enthusiastic at it like he was as the team manager.

That is to say he seems to not create suffering for himself. If he desperately wanted things to be different and wanted to be a starting member of the team every week then is life would be misery wouldn’t it? He would constantly be wishing things were different than the way they were.

That doesn’t stop him from dreaming of things being different but he comes across on the video as making the distinction between what is now and what is just his wishing.

Wherever you find yourself is the place you need to fully fill before life will move you on.  By that I mean completely accepting your reality and acknowledging it is that way now.  Jump into your fate with both feet.

Anything else will keep you suffering and stuck.

When you let go of wanting to be somewhere else or wanting to be someone else you will experience a shift. The days of spending every waking moment wishing things were different will be replaced by peace
and appropriate action.

Who are you to say what is right and wrong or should not be happening? You don’t even know why you are here, who you are, how you got here, where you go after this life but still you try and control the way things are.

To sit back and trust that everything is as it is and to trust that which is bigger than you, which you are obviously a part of, is to align with a peaceful, humble way of life.

It is very humbling to give up control and to stop trying to change this moment with effort.

You can acknowledge this moment, identify what you would like to experience differently and then seek to change the circumstances that will allow you to experience the difference.

Seek without strain, without effort, with trust and with faith.

Even as you strive to improve some area of your life, still there remains trust and faith that all is in order.

Who are you to say things are not as they should be?

Chuck Spezzano in his book If it Hurts it isn’t Love says, “The highest level of success is something we flow with, not something that is planned. We do not control the wave when we are surfing…we go with the flow of it and to the extent we do, we become successful”.

Spiritual Growth, What Is Spirituality?

What Is Spiritual Growth?

What is spiritual growth? There is a perfectly good reason that the word spirituality does not make immediate sense to everyone, and that reason is because apprehending spirituality is outside of intellectual grasping; it can only be known truly by direct awareness, or direct experience, of Self.

To attain enlightenment we need both direct experience and understanding.  But it is important that the experience comes first and the explanation or the knowledge comes afterward. – Deepak Chopra.

Wake up to the enlightenment process, which is available to everyone who wants it.  Many people don’t have any knowing of who they are, they are living inauthentic lives and pretending.  Is finding instantaneous enlightenment something you desire?  Do you wish you could somehow take who you are – your history, story and particular circumstances – and change it? The importance of being honest cannot be over-stated. Signs Of Spiritual Awakening

Awakening is funny. In fact those that experience early signs of spiritual awakening often find it hilarious, and so it was with me.  I was new to the world of self help and had no concept or experience of spiritual growth. Shadow Projection, Shadow Work, Human Shadow, Healing The Shadow, The Shadow Effect

Ego Defense: Shadow Projection

Shadow projection is the way in which you can easily spot what human
traits are in your shadow. Your shadow self is that which is unconscious.  As we are complete in our potential experience, anything which we deny as being part of us becomes unconscious.

What the ego (self-image) does is project these unconscious traits out onto the world including specific people you come across.

This is all the work of the brilliant psychologist Carl Jung who coined the term the shadow.  Why this is cool is that you can use this knowledge to be vigilant and responsible for ALL that you experience, including they way you experience other people.

Everything that irritates us about others
can lead us to an understanding of ourselves. Carl Jung

What the ego seems to do is take anything that we learned not to be, such as rude and mean, and project that out onto someone or the world as a whole.  Anything that is repressed within does not go away.  The trick is to see and accept exactly where it is coming from rather than where it appears to be coming from.

If you don’t accept that a part of your potential and experience is being rude then someone or a group of people will be burdened with your shadow projection of this rude trait.

It happens all ways.  It is tricky to see and even trickier to remember when we are faced with another individual who grates against us.

If someone is annoying to you or you think you are so much better than them or so much inferior then the challenge is for you to contemplate what is it that you are projecting onto them.

What word would you use to describe them that perfectly fits why you have this contraction away from them.  Ordinarily in a perfect world you would accept everyone as they are and experience peace in
their presence.   If you are not then there is something about YOU causing you to experience this absence of peace.  Once you have this word that describes what it is about them you dislike or like then you go within and recall situations where you have been that trait.

This is no time for further ego defense but rather brutal honesty.  The type of honesty that comes from impartial watching.  Just as if you were a scientist observing the data you observe yourself and accept that in the past there have been one or two times when you have done the same thing, or, accept that given a certain set of circumstances you would behave the same as the person who is the subject of your projection.

Rather than being a certain, fixed, object it might be better to think of yourself as potential.  Given your environment and your influences you have the potential to be anything from a thief and murderer to the holiest saint.  You are not one way.  You are not an object that is called Jane, Julie or Dave.  This is why you need to accept everything about yourself and everything that you could imagine ANY human being doing.

Each time you move a potential trait from the darkness (unconscious denial) to the light (conscious acceptance) it removes the need for the ego to project this trait onto anyone else and this is the process of healing the shadow.  This allows you to experience more peace inside and out.

Shadow projection seems to be a strategy by the ego to maintain the illusion of being a certain way.  It probably does this because you have no awareness of being connected to the whole being that you are.

Practice Of Contemplation, Meditation

Practice
Of Contemplation

To Empower You

A very powerful technique is the practice of contemplation. Some might call it navel gazing but these people probably don’t understand how or why this discipline can change your life. As a child I remember contemplating why I could see the pen on the table.

Contemplation was too big a word for a ten-year-old but I was just curious why could I make the distinction between the pen and the table.

After considering the matter for a while I knew that the light was different between the two objects and that allowed me to see that one thing was not the other. Pretty simple explanation but nevertheless it sort of says enough.

Do you remember doing such things as a child?

Maybe you didn’t acknowledge it but you doing this was engaging in the practice of contemplation. I am sure at some stage you would have wondered why things are the way they are.

The practice of contemplation is to look into a matter to become aware of the way something is, or the why something is.

We generally hold a thing to be something we can pick up, something tangible, a form that two or more people could come to some agreement about its existence. Consider that a thing – a form – is also a thought, a feeling, an experience, and a way of seeing the world.

These ‘things’ are invisible we might say but still they occur.

These things occur in your experience of life and you can objectify them to a greater or lesser degree. By that I mean you can watch them occurring. You can step back, so to speak, and say ‘I am noticing I experience this’. You would do well to consider anything that you can distinguish as a ‘thing’, ‘object’, ‘form’.

I am calling a thing anything that you notice now which wasn’t there once upon a time and won’t be there in the future. That being the case, why is it there now? If it is not fixed, unchanging and absolute then why is it there now? This is fodder for the practice of contemplation. Why is it? Why is it so? Why is it so the way that it is?

Take shame for example. The next time you feel embarrassed, be curious about what you assume to be true to make you feel embarrassed right then. You can do it later if more appropriate but the important point is to notice that it is there now, or was there and it will go in time. So why is it there now? What do you hold to be true in your idea of yourself and the world that causes the shame? We are too passive in our living. We assume that experiences and feelings come pre-packaged. Combined with the ‘it is just the way I am’ naive mentality we end up living a life of self-ignorance and reaction.

I rarely have negative emotions these days. I rarely feel that inner contraction to a noticeable degree. Sure if there is a confrontation or some issue being worked through I might feel some physical sensation but rarely do I notice any real emotion.

For a couple of years I have engaged in the practice of contemplation. Either on the spot or later that evening contemplating anything that happened that day which I reacted to with a feeling. Even the slightest contraction away from another person would see me wonder what I didn’t like about this situation. If I felt fear I wondered what was I afraid of happening. If I felt down or uninspired by work I would contemplate the way I was thinking about life and work. I could then see the cause and effect relationship between my thoughts and my experience.

Once I could see I was creating this unconsciously I could change it consciously and feel better.   Contemplation is powerful, ancient and used by great spiritual leaders and masters the world over.  It can also be used by you.

Self-Esteem, Self-Help, Spiritual Growth

Self-Help And Spiritual Growth To

 Achieve Permanent High Self-Esteem

If you are searching the web for self-esteem, self-help or spiritual growth you are probably coming across advice like…

  • focus on your achievements
  • say affirmations
  • be nice to yourself
  • fake it until you make it

These people mean well, but I doubt the great spiritual teachers of the past or influential psychologists of our time would answer a student’s question about self-esteem by instructing them to focus on aspects that reinforce your current experience of yourself.

I want to show you how to do work on yourself that is hugely rewarding, meaningful, simple and transformational. First I want to talk a bit more about how you got in this predicament in the first place… Read More

Do you sit there and search for answers to help yourself? Do you think you are into self-help but deep down wish or wait for someone to save you, help you or make you better

Do you fantasise about becoming rich, fit, funny or popular and think you will feel better then? Helping yourself is about going inwards to discover what is true.

There is the truth of the way ‘It’ is which is more in the domain of spiritual growth, and then there is your truth that is more in the domain of self-help.

There is the truth of you as a seemingly separate object we call a person – your experience of life; your emotional truth, your perceptions and interpretations and ideas of the way you and the world are.

The Open Secret

And the secret of self-help is to start with being brutally honest about what is true for you in each moment… Read
